The Duration of this programme is three academic years distributed into six semesters and each semester comprises of 17 weeks.The last two weeks of semester are reserved for examinations. Internship will be carried out at the end of the last academic year and will take two months.

Programme Description

Bachelor of Theology to be offered at UWMF is an intensive training for spiritual leaders, which will enable them to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Bible through traditional theological training, and also demonstrate their abilities in fields such as entrepreneurship and management to assist them in their ministries. This course, is focused on spiritual leaders, spiritual activities within the college during training which cuts across the campus life and academics.

Programme Rationale

In the past few years, the qualification of the clergy has been questioned throughout East African Community (EAC). For example, in 2018 Rwanda has cautioned its clergy in churches to get training from recognized institutions within next few years or else the churches will be closed down. Recently, this same issue has been addressed in Uganda as well. Consequently, many churches in E.Africa have placed a great deal of emphasis on theological training of their ministers and lay leaders, many of them lack the financial resources that can enable them to provide adequate theological training.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

• To raise professional church leaders with deeper knowledge of God and ministry, through providing resources for higher education in teaching and promotion of research and advancement of learning within the context of Christian truth, practice and spirituality.
• To raise professionally trained teachers in theology, thus helping to play an effective role in the development and expansion of Christian /theological university education in Uganda and Africa.
• To train professional missionaries and preachers of the gospel with a balanced educational program that helps them to develop professional skills to broaden their perception as to develop a holistic approach to life .
• To raise leaders with a biblical perspective that will influence all spheres of life ranging from political, social, scientific aspects especially Africa, as we coordinate with other Christian institutions to provide academic leadership to the church; so as to address those challenges unique to the church of Christ in Africa.
• To provide Cheapest biblically based leadership training to the church as a whole , through providing adequate resources for quality education, training and research based on biblical concepts and values which reflect the African cultural heritage.
• Explore how religious morality and justice are integrated with faith.
• Study the research skills with the aim of pursuing higher education in Theology and contribute to the epistemology of theological education.
